My Date with the Dame

Jen Hazen sits down with the Dame to dish about her latest endeavors.

It's no secret that Dame Darcy has been hitting the dating circuit these days. Within the past couple of years, this fair maiden has appeared on such shows as "Fifth Wheel", "Blind Date", and "Elimidate". Who wouldn’t be entranced by this radiant arteest-extraordinaire, after all? She is an actor, musician, doll maker, illustrator of the delectable "Meatcake" comic books, and now a clothing designer. Okay, so I didn't really have a date with her, but I did get a chance to speak with the Dame regarding her recent appearance on "Fifth Wheel", as well as what she's got cookin' in that E.Z. Bake Coven of hers.

You wear so many arteest hats. Do you ever see yourself settling into one art form?

I want to combine them all and make feature films. I am currently writing one and have another script completed that I wrote during my 20's.

I understand that you've been pitching "Meatcake" as an animated TV show for the last couple of years. How is that going?

I have a lead right now, and it seems promising, but I don't want to jinx it by saying who the lead is.

I'm so pleased that you're designing clothing/t-shirts with your fabulous artwork on them. Can you tell me more about this and where can we buy them?

Soon you will be able to get them directly from DameDarcy.com, but until then, they can be ordered from offbeatbrands.com

I heard that you and your band Cabin Fever may be performing music for the soundtrack of an upcoming film named Black Dahlia, based on the famous Black Dahlia murder of the 1940's. Any truth to this? What other endeavors are you pursuing?

I'm supposed to do the music and act in the Black Dahlia this winter/spring, I'm also doing animation and music for a movie called Scardust

Can you tell me about your recent experience on the dating show, "Fifth Wheel"? I heard there was a strange bald cowboy and a goth lady involved. Will a copy of the show be available on your Web site, like the "Blind Date" appearance?

"Fifth Wheel" is retarded and I only go on these shows for publicity. I want to sell it like the others but I have to get the footage first. I haven't even seen it!

Have these appearances on dating shows allowed you to gain exposure/opened doors for you in the biz?

I guess it hasn't hurt, but it's business as usual anyway.

I heard that in the older "Blind Date" episode, you were dressed as a mermaid and your date was a praying mantis. Care to elaborate on that?

The older episode I was a mermaid, but [in] the new one the guy was a praying mantis. I still talk to this guy and we're friends, the only one from all this dating show crap I actually liked. He's still kind of a jock, but I hang out with him sometimes and he calls me.
