Keira Lemonis is a photographer living and working in NY's Capital District. She specializes in event and portrait photography, but always finds time to work on side projects. Her main interest in photography is anything having to do with people, whether it's people themselves or things that people live with on an everyday basis. She is fascinated with everyday items, particularly those that take on larger amounts of purpose and meaning when adapted in certain ways.
This fascination has led to Keira's recent photojournalistic series 'Tokens', which explores the ordinary and sometimes comical items that are left on or around contemporary grave sites. These items range in value and purpose and are left as gifts or tokens for the deceased.Keira has spent the last summer exploring NY cemetaries and photographing various items. Whether these items are meant for deceased loved ones or for the eyes of on lookers to the grave is uncertain.
