For those of you tired of reading about hip, successful twenty- and thirtysomethings living in Manhattan, don’t cast stones just yet. Disregard that feeling of nausea brought on by The Devil Wears Prada’s theater release and start reading the Company Bitch’s blog immediately.
The Company Bitch, commonly referred to as CB by her avid readers, is a twentysomething Manhattanite stuck in a job she hates. What began as a forum to vent about the creatures she works with has become a place she goes to talk about her relationships, run-ins with some eclectic New York characters, and a rather infamous little pink T-shirt.
Most of CB’s relationship posts center around Re-Boyfriend, a term reminding everyone that they broke up and got back together again. While CB doesn’t seem to resent him for this, many of her readers regularly hate on him.
“Re-Boyfriend has, on more than one occasion, said, ‘That’s not what your commenters think,’ when arguing with me,” CB told Venus Zine via e-mail. “I really feel like there should be a rule against using my own blog against me.”
CB’s hilarious storytelling and ability to engage hundreds of readers on a daily basis makes one wonder why she’s stuck behind a desk at all. “I would love to be a writer and have had some e-mails back and forth with literary agents and the like, though nothing has really come of it,” CB says. “I’m working on a book, trying not to sound like a douche when I say, ‘I’m working on a book’ and just generally trying to get out of the cube world.
