They’re bright, bold, and straight-up impossible not to notice. With heavy, repeating patterns, these hoodies are the freshest look in urban street wear, but you don’t have to be ghetto fabulous to pull them off.
Drawing inspiration from hipster- and skater-inspired fashion, the “prep-hop” look — which involves tighter jeans, flat-brim caps, and Dunks galore — has been made popular by the likes of Kanye West, Common, Andre 3000, and Neptunes’ and N.E.R.D.’s Pharrell Williams. Williams, along with co-founder Nigo of Japanese brand A Bathing Ape (BAPE), were some of the earliest trendsetters when they brought their lines, Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream, across the Pacific from Japan to the United States.
While BBC, Ice Cream, and BAPE aren’t what you’d term affordable, (hoodies range anywhere from $330 to $350), other brands have stepped up with much more attainable fashion pieces. And while many of the companies that target men
offer hoodies in only XXXL, these companies offer
a variety of sizes.
