Eye On: Megan Boone  Issue #43 Issue #43

We chat with the young actress who landed a role in SATC 2

Megan Boone’s career launched in 3-D with last year’s My Bloody Valentine. But for this 27-year-old, there was nothing more otherworldly than working beside cultural icons in Sex and the City 2.

Venus Zine: What was it like to be part of the Sex and the City phenomenon?

Megan Boone: At my first table reading, I couldn’t believe I was sitting opposite these women who I’d watched for so many years. I had anticipated being intimidated, but my excitement just took over.

VZ: Was it strange to see yourself projected on the big screen in 3-D in My Bloody Valentine?

MB: It was kind of shocking but cool! That movie was one of the first installments of this new wave of 3-D pictures. Everybody always talks about getting started in horror, and there I was.

VZ: You didn’t predict that your first role would be in a horror film?

MB: Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect or how my career might develop. I still don’t. But I’m glad to have that project under my belt. It was very odd that my character’s name was Megan. It felt a bit serendipitous, like, “Welcome to your career, Megan.”

VZ: What’s next for you? I’ve read that you write and direct.

MB: I’m shooting a pilot for the CW; a drama (yet unnamed) about first-year Harvard medical students. And I’ve started to make short films independently. As an actor, I think it’s important to understand all aspects of storytelling. In the future, I’d like to write and direct, too.
