It’s always a party with L.A. artist and jewelry designer Steven Shein. His pieces — bright, colorful shapes, words, and icons made from plastic, wood, leather, gold, and silver — combine original ideas mixed with pop-culture aesthetics. Shein, who defines himself as an “ex-South African Jew trying to make it in this cold, cold world” is planning for his master’s in sculpture in fall 2009, so expect only more fabulous fun from this up-and-comer.
