I can't knit with knitting patterns. That is, I can never stay completely true to the pattern as I always want to make some slight modifications to it. Add some border stitches, use a different type of yarn, you name it. This is why I love ravelry.com, an online knitting and crocheting community where photos of members' projects are searchable by yarn type, pattern, and more. I can see what other people have done with a pattern before making my own substitutions. It is also a great way to find new patterns for the yarn I already have. The site is still in its beta phase though, so you do need to sign up on a waiting list to receive an invitation to join the community.
