Brittany Julious loves Hipster Runoff

Hipster backlash was inevitable.

Hipster Runoff, a blog run by the mysterious Carles of Brooklyn, takes aim at the trends, fashion, and music that define the “hipster” lifestyle. The site encourages anonymous comments and touts itself as “the #1 source for the Australia vs. France music war” as well as “a blog worth blogging about.” Originally a music blog, Carles breaks down viral trends, blog bands such as French cuties the Teenagers, self-indulgent MySpace profiles, the ever-present onslaught of party photographers, “banger” remixes, and American Apparel with the sort of commentary that only a “hipster” could understand, and inevitably find hilarious. The site is less about being mean and more focused on the absurdities and similarities that make “outsider” culture more homogenous in the Internet age.
