Sheba White loves Mrs. Emma Peel on The Avengers

Although she was on the British television series for only two of its seven seasons (she left when she found that she was being paid less than the cameraman), there's a reason why Diana Rigg's fencing- and karate-proficient spy character, Mrs. Emma Peel, looms predominantly over co-star Patrick Macnee on the cover of The Avengers reissue DVD. It's because Mrs. Emma Peel (an alteration of Man Appeal) is the real draw of this 1960s television show, and not only for the sexy spy outfits that she sports (they are pretty rad), but because she skillfully wields an Italian Beretta pistol, races about in an Elan sports car, and possesses a scientific mind fascinated with thermonuclear energy and molecular structures. Aside from Peel's many notable skills, she can also give good quip when it's needed. And with the tight leather jumpsuits she often sports, you can guess they're dosed out frequently.
