"Wait
Wait" is a weekly current events game show on NPR, now available in
free podcast form. It is recorded in front of a live audience in Chicago and has a rotating cast
of snarky journalist commentators who answer quiz questions and banter
with the listener and celebrity call-ins.
The
secret star of the show, obvious to anyone who's heard it, is NPR
announcer Carl Kasell. If a listener contestant wins a game on "Wait
Wait," the prize is that Carl Kasell (pronounced "castle") will do the
message on their answering machine. Once you've heard this dude's
voice, you will understand why that is such a great prize.
