No other young adult novel has spoken to my twenty-something
heart like Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist, by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan. Nick, the only straight member of a three-piece
queercore band, asks Norah to be his girlfriend for 5 minutes at a gig
one night, in hopes of avoiding his ex. One breathtaking kiss later,
the duo find themselves hurtling through the streets of New York City,
getting to know each other and encountering adventure after adventure.
The movie version is slated to be released on October
3, 2008. It stars Michael Cera and Kat Dennings, whose combined powers of
cuteness make me confident that the big screen take will do this tiny
book justice.
