Aiden Landman loves A Blackheart Christmas

Recently, I have noticed a disturbing trend: Christmas albums have become less about spreading yuletide joy and more about cash-lining the pockets of greedy execs bent on squeezing every last cent from their tweenaged cash cows.

You can imagine my surprise when A Blackheart Christmas, a seasonal compilation from Joan Jett's Blackheart label, slid across my stereo box. It is a different Christmas disc than I am used to; Burl Ives and Perry Como are high on my holiday playlist, but this record's heart is in the right place.

Blackheart's roster rip and race through hymns, songs by Elvis and Billy Squire, and throw in a couple of Christmas compositions of their own. They've even invited a few special guests to contribute to their holiday record via recorded speeches.

You can pick up a copy of A Blackheart Christmas at the Blackheart Records website.
