TOOLS & SUPPLIES
• one sweatshirt
• pair of scissors
• sewing pins
• six buttons
• sewing machine
HERE WE GO
1. Starting one-inch from the collar, cut off the collar.
2. Cut off bottom hemline.
3. Cut both sleeves to cap sleeves (start 2.5 inches from the shoulder and cut downward to the armpit seam). Repeat on other sleeve.
4. Pin the bottom hem of previously cut sweatshirt onto the new collar
(inside-out so the outside has a clean seam). Sew the bottom hem to the collar.
5. Cut sweatshirt open from the center-left of collar to the armpit.
You are left with a flap. Hem the top of the flap to create a clean line.
6. Cut sweatshirt open from the center-right of collar to the armpit.
You are left with a flap. Hem the top of the flap to create a clean line.
7. Place three evenly spaced pins along the bottom edge of flap, on right and left sides. This is where the buttons will be sewn on.
8. Repeat on top edge of flaps. This is where the button-holes will be placed. Make sure that the pins on the top and bottom half of the sweatshirt match up.
9. Sew six eyelets where the top pins are placed… then cut them open.
10. Sew on six buttons where the bottom pins are placed.
11. Take the sleeve that you cut off in step 3 and cut desired pocket shape from access sleeve material in front and back so that you have two pockets cut out.
12. Hem the pocket pieces, and pin them onto the sweatshirt where desired and topstitch them onto each side of the sweatshirt.
