While drunken street wandering at SXSW can get old, and standing through less-than-stellar acts in the Coachella heat can be painful, there are more options for concertgoers this spring. So instead of confining yourself to your bedroom, why not give yourself a mini-vacation and try one of these four spring music festivals.
LANGERADO MUSIC FESTIVAL
Top acts: Ani DiFranco, Beastie Boys, R.E.M., Thievery Corporation, the National, Of Montreal, Vampire Weekend.
Save the date: March 6–9.
Going down at: the Big Cypress Indian Reservation in the South Florida Everglades.
It’ll cost you: $184.50 (includes on-site camping for all four days) or $75 per day.
Stay: All over. Camping is included with a four-day pass, and the travel options are extensive. Shuttle buses can take you back and forth from the airport, hotels, and even a nearby mall, in case you want to sleep off of campgrounds.
Why Langerado?: Diversity. The mix of acts is unbeatable, and ranges from !!!, Built To Spill, and Dan Deacon to Phil Lesh & Friends and STS9 (Sound Tribe Sector 9)

GREEN APPLE FESTIVAL
Top acts: Not announced yet.
Save the date:April 18-20.
Going down in: New York, Washington, D.C., Miami, Chicago, Denver, Dallas, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
It’ll cost you: The ticket price for the 18th and 19th are still unannounced, but the concert on the 20th is free!
Stay: Hotels or hostels. You probably want to book according to the whereabouts of the show(s) you see on Friday or Saturday.
Why Green Apple?: Occurring in eight cities at the same time, Green Apple Festival celebrates Earth Day with easily accessible free concerts at outdoor venues across the country. Shows that occur earlier in the weekend are marked by greening efforts in each venue and more “offset your carbon imprint” onstage banter than usual.

CULTURE SHOCK FESTIVAL
Top acts: The Dodos, Pattern Is Movement, Mahjongg, Baby Teeth.
Save the date: April 19.
Going down at: Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.
It’ll cost you: Absolutely nothing.
Stay: with whatever on-campus pal who’ll let you crash for the night.
Why Culture Shock? It’s a free music festival sponsored by a student-run radio station (WIUX-FM) in an interesting town worth bumming around in. Also, you can see the Dodos before they get crazy-famous.

SUMMER CAMP MUSIC FESTIVAL
Top acts: The Flaming Lips, Umphrey’s McGee, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic.
Save the date: May 23-25.
It’s all going down at: Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, Illinois.
It’ll cost you: $115 (includes on-site camping for all three days)
Stay: Since you can’t camp next to your car, the commute between shows is much more pleasant inside festival grounds, even if it means that you'll have to lug your cooler to your tent. If you can, get there on Thursday night for the pre-party and for a chance to score a prime camping spot in the shade-covered forest.
Why Summer Camp?: The size of the festival is smaller and more intimate than its larger festival counterparts (ahem, Bonnaroo), and it keeps getting better every year. It’s also not too far outside of Chicago, so you can make your Memorial Day weekend one to remember if you’re in the area.
