While on tour with her reformed and renamed RTX lineup in support of its debut full-length album Transmaniacon, Jennifer Herrema responds via e-mail to a horoscope chart reading by twin astrologers Ophi and Tali Edut. Born on March 1, 1972, at 12:45 a.m. in Washington, D.C., Herrema exhibits some typical Pisces characteristics, but she’s far from your typical rocker. For a woman who once told online music magazine Perfectsoundforever.com, “I’m sure I have [lived before]. I feel like I’m 150 years old,” anything is possible. — Amber Drea
CHARACTER TRAITS
AstroTwins: She’s a Pisces with a Sagittarius rising and Virgo moon. That would make her a spiritual, musical, and intuitive person with a “larger than life” persona and a keenly critical eye. She is inspired by worldly influences, and loves to travel. With her Sun in the third house of communication, she was born to express herself.
Jennifer Herrema: All right. I’m with the interpretation culled from the belt within that imaginary celestial sphere, but I'm not so sure I’ve tapped into that part of myself that should love to travel. I mean, I totally dig checking new foliage, topography, food, cigarettes, speed limits, etc., but I don’t like flying, time-zone changes, foreign languages, going through customs, or border crossings. Being born to express myself is a heavy load to tow because sometimes I get stuck and have a real hard time doing it. Kinda like right now, but I do agree that regardless of how in or on it I am, I still need to do it.
CAREER
AstroTwins: She has her Virgo moon in the 10th house of career, so she will probably be a perfectionist about work. Her self-criticism needs to be channeled appropriately, or she may stifle herself creatively by refusing to make a “mistake” or by never actually completing a project. Her career house also contains powerful Pluto and revolutionary Uranus, both in justice-loving Libra. She is out to transform and re-balance society through her work. Self-discipline can be a challenge at times, but she’s driven. Born in the Year of the Rat, she has an extra dose of ambition from the East.
JH: The belt’s not entirely fitting me on this aspect, but kind of. I’m totally not a perfectionist, but I’m kind of a control freak, so maybe that’s the connection. Also, I’m not self-critical at all and that’s kind of a problem; maybe that ties into my self-discipline deficit. I’m analogous to all good rat qualities: survivor, endowed with magical powers, the luckiest, the first. I’m obliviously driven, but sometimes to distraction.
ROMANCE
AstroTwins: In love, she needs to be with the “perfect match” and will hold out until she finds that person. However, she may seem to be wild and independent and probably is until she “settles down.” That’s because she has Venus in Aries (the feminist sign!) in her fifth house of performance and romance. Don’t try to pin this woman down! She does her own thing, her own way.
JH: Yes. This is correct.
STYLE
AstroTwins: Neptune, the planet of glamour, is in her first house of appearances, so should be quite photogenic and likes to dress creatively.
JH: This is quite right on, but due to other aspects of my chart — those being immovable and rock like impenetrable — I believe I inadvertently bring out the destructive nature in many of those that, unlike myself, were not born under the first sign.
SUMMARY
AstroTwins: We have a true artist who is equal parts daydreamer, revolutionary, and workaholic. She should definitely travel and surround herself by worldly influences. A little eastern philosophy can also help tame that inner critic and free her to express herself fully.
JH: This is totally on and off — like a light, like the sun. Sake, inhaling wasabi, riding the bullet train always tear down the walls, but a little always gets more and more with this first child.
