Reader Of The Week: Victoria Martin of South Bay, California

Owner of online boutique Seam Sew Swell

When did you begin reading Venus Zine, and what’s your favorite part?
Back in 2005. The DIY section — I love checking out the little projects.

How did you start your company?
I had a friend who knew some html, and I had about $25 saved up.

What do you love and hate about what you do?
I love shopping in thrift stores for vintage finds and fabric, but sometimes I'm not in the mood to take loads of orders to the post office.

What are some of your favorite things?
Flickr, farmers markets, cooking, sewing, classic cars, and tattooed boys.

What music are you listening to right now?
A blend of top hits from the ’40s through ’60s, and a band called the Maine.

Got words of wisdom for other Venus Zine readers?
If you're thinking about starting an indie business, I recommend taking notes in their DIY section. A lot of their tips and Web sites have improved how I run my shop.

If there is anyone, living or dead, that you could meet and have coffee with, who would it be and why?
Milo Ventimiglia, he seems like he could hold a decent conversation, he's funny, and fun to stare at.

Be sure to check out Victoria's shop, where she sells vintage and handmade clothing, at seamsewswell.com.
